About this game
All Idleness and Ephemera is a spin-off of Ashes that follows Yuel, who was six years old when his mother was publicly executed for her uncovered infidelity by her own husband, King Khalil. Yuel grew up bereft, lonely, and unhappy: ignored even when his mother was alive, shunned by his megalomaniacal father, and eventually abandoned by his only ally, his kindly nursemaid Safiya. Now, just past his eighteenth birthday, he turns to his older cousin Tavi for comfort, and finds far more than he expected.
Built on 2DCG art as a gay kinetic novel, the game lets Yuel's relationship with Tavi take on a significantly more sensual turn as Yuel learns to overcome his sorrows in Tavi's arms (and learns how good it can feel to make somebody else feel good). Ebi-hime keeps the writing introspective and the romance slow-build, with humor and groping woven through the heavier emotional beats.

The characters in Idleness first appeared in my previously released BxG VN, All Ashes and Illusions. Idleness is a 'what-if' spinoff of Ashes featuring the two main male characters, Yuel and Tavi, in a relationship. Ashes is rather grim in tone, but Idleness is far more light-hearted (and you can also read about Yuel and Tavi being cute and in love in a modern setting in Unluckily in Love too. Wow, how cool!)
Idleness is more or less a nukige, so it isn’t suitable for anybody under 18. There’s some rather salacious content, but it contains a decent amount of tender moments too.
