The protagonist is one such biot, programmed to fulfill a single vocation: companion at an adult entertainment center called Dollhouse. Biots exist as lifeless dolls until activated, with their self-awareness sealed off by design, until the chance appearance of an opportunistic thief carrying a mysterious device changes everything.
